Follow every dependency
Record utility feeds, generator design, fuel commitment, UPS topology, maintenance bypass, rack power delivery, cooling zones, fire controls, leak detection, and physical access. Redundancy labels matter only when components do not share an unrecognized failure path.
Ask for maintenance history, test practice, incident communication, and the boundary between facility and customer equipment.
- Power path to rack
- Cooling failure response
- Carrier entrances
- Remote-hands scope
Test the operating relationship
Measure how equipment arrives, is inventoried, installed, accessed, repaired, and removed. Confirm after-hours authorization, identity checks, cameras, visitor logs, spare storage, and disposal rules.
The contract should connect service commitments to measurable conditions and explain exclusions, notice, evidence, and escalation.
Walk one server replacement from shipment through installation and emergency access, naming the owner and evidence at every handoff.
